A Doggie Day

Today was all about dogs it seems!!! (not that we minded!)

We woke up this morning and had to run to Walmart for dog food... then on our way home we found this little guy! He was running down Rt. 1 in York, we almost hit him and I just knew that if we didn't get him off the road someone else would have... so we pulled over and he came right to us, he was very friendly. Sat in Nate's lap in the car and came home with us. We put him in a kennel and my Mom told us to call the dog officer. He had a collar on, but with just a rabies tag... the dog officer tracked the number and connected us to the owner. I guess the dogs runs away a lot because he did not seem too worried.... we returned him to his house, and his owner was thankful, but again did not seem surprised... the dog was happy to see it's buddy and ran off up the drive way... we totally forgot to ask the guy what his name was...

After that adventure we came home to a bleeding baby Banjo.... it's not as bad as it sounds though... he has a callous on his leg from the way he lays in his kennel... we have put lots of blankets in with him and tucked them under his kennel so he can't move them.. but he always does and ends up laying on the metal... we have been watching the callous for a few weeks now and putting neosporine on it... but it's really not getting better and sometimes he rubs it wrong and it bleeds... like today. We recently started putting bag balm on it hoping that would clear it up, so today to keep it clean we wrapped it with bag balm on it.... he was not impressed. It does not hurt him, he never cries when you touch it and walks just fine... but he was not sure he could move with the bandage on it!! It took him a long time to get out of this "I can't move!" fit he threw... he just layed there protesting us.... (we're going to try to get him into the vet tomorrow to have them look at it and see if there is anything else we can do)

... Banjo kept up his protest until... we said three words "car, beach, WALK!" he was up in a flash and had a blast on the beach. We kept his leg wrapped so it would stay clean and he must have forgotten all about his protesting, because he walked just fine on the beach! We stopped at our favorite ice cream place "Blinkie" better known as the York Dairy Bar... it's a soft serve ice cream place, that does not open until after the 4th of July, we have been waiting to see the Blinking Ice Cream Cone that serves as it's sign (which is why all "townies" call it Blinkie). It's the best ice cream place because it's a $1.75 for a small twist.. it used to be $1.30 which was way we loved it in high school... you could raid your change jar for an ice cream.

We walked the boys down the beach to Blinkie and then back up to our car and headed home. They are both sound asleep now :)

It's nice to see some summer!! and some SUN!
