The Sweetheart Banquet

For Valentine's Day our church held a Sweetheart Banquet... it seemed a little silly to me at first because our high school used to have them instead of a dance to keep kids from "getting too close!"

The church holds a lot of silly functions like this and we have never gone to one before, so we decided that we would particapate in this. Somewhere in his head my husband got the idea to wear his service bravos (one of his uniforms) to this dinner. Now keep in mind this dinner was NOT a fancy thing... for $20.00 a couple we got steak, a baked potato, a roll, salad, sweet tea, and dessert. Most people showed up in jeans and a tee shirt... and not many people in our church are military so seeing Nate, and of course Patrick in their uniforms was a different sight for them! Mandi and I felt we should dress up as well to look nice beside our Marines... so we all got dolled up and headed to Trenton (about 35 minutes from where we live) for the Sweetheart Banquet.

It was really fun, they had a little chorus group singing and even Pastor Jeff got up and sang... he has an AMAZING voice, he sounds just like Elvis! We also played some silly couples games! We got to talk to a lot of the couples that go to our church that we see every Sunday, but never get to have a conversation with, and of course everyone was impressed with the way Nate and Patrick looked!!!
