O Christmas Tree!

After church this morning, Nate and I ventured out to cut down a Christmas tree. Believe it or not, we have never as a couple cut down our own tree!!! In North Carolina we had a fake tree because we always came home for the actual holiday... so we put our fake tree up the day after Thanksgiving, had our own little Christmas a few days before we headed home and then would "deal" with taking the tree down when we got back after the New Year.

The past three Christmas trees we have had we just bought at the VFW... but this year we REALLY wanted to go cut one down. We found a Christmas tree farm right here in our town! It was pretty small and it seems they are either between "good" tree years, or maybe just starting out... they didn't have too much to pick from, but the lady who owned the farm was SO nice and she let us take our dogs out into the tree field, so we got a little walk in as well... As a kid I always HATED going to cut down a tree... my mom made it a "mandatory" :) family event and usually it was very cold and sometimes snowy and it took FOREVER for her to find a good tree! Now that I look back on it of course I have wonderful memories, but as a kid it was not my favorite thing to do.... I now understand however why it takes sooo long! When you buy a pre-cut tree they have picked the perfect ones! It does take a long time to find a good tree when it's just growing there!!! We did end up finding one we liked and brought it home.

Banjo thought it was THE BEST THING WE HAVE EVER DONE... we went for a walk in a new place and BROUGHT HOME A WHOLE TREE!!! He could not believe his little eyes!!
